You could get with over length stanction replacements; In fact I read over on the Gixxer forum (I think), that the forks are actually thicker and so they are heavier but also stiffer so there is even less need to go to USD.

Anybody done this conversion to improve ground clearance. You could add 1-2 " and avoid having to do the expense of a drop triple. I'm assuming with my 18" wheels and standard 41mm GSXR 1100 forks I will have no issues with clearance, but is all else fails.

As far as USD forks, going this route with 2nd Gen GSXR 750 forks would be a good way to lengthen them. The GSRX 750 forks are supposed to be better than GSXR 1100 and are much preferred for Slabbie conversions. That is what is on my GSXR1100G (86).

I did mention this to Katman, not sure if he pursued it.I have not had a need as yet. Anybody gone this route?

Ground Clearance Calculations

See attached file for examples of how ground clearance changes for different combinations of wheel, tire size and fork lengths.

These calculations compute a mid bike ground clearance change relative to stock for a GS1100EZ/ED. UMMV.

For various reasons I went with the 18" wheel conversion , but with a stiff fork, I'm toying with the idea of a "drag bike" look for my ED with a 180/55-17 rear tire.

Anybody want a copy of the MS Excel file PM me. Direct any questions to this thread as your question and the answer might help someone else.

Check with FBF first. I contacted them a number of years ago and they only did tubes up to 41mm (I think it was). They didn't have 43mm, which is what pretty much all of the USD forks have. That may have changed since, with any luck.

Back when I did my GSXR conversion there was a company in the UK that sold longer USD lower tubes. They weren't cheap. By the way that same company had a wonderfull listing of the stock length of just about every fork ever made. If I get real bored I'll look for it.

It's been posted before but a couple places sell tube extensions for the top of the forks for the modern GSXRs.

Your adjusters on the top of the forks will sit in a recess. Wouldn't work on forks like GSXR1100 KYB that have different diameters at the top and bottom triples.

I've had very good luck with Forking by Frank in the past. I've tried to order USD tubes from them and they did not stock or make them at that point ( maybe 1-2 years ago)

what I recall reading are stricly for 1st GEN 41mm forks.

Shoudl have figured I would have head from Rob if the Rosetta stone had been discovered.

Maybe with enough USD conversions they will add them to the line.

USD = Up Side Down as on late model GSXR forks

Nice picture but I don't see where you can order them. I check the site out and couldn't find those units.
