actually they did not sell, no bids, already relisted once, watch that auction and see if they get relisted again.

Pretty awesome idea. Has anyone done anything to upgrade the rear disc in a similar fashion? I'll be honest that I didn't read all 57 pages of this thread to see haha

It's just not needed. With adequate front brakes there's very little weight on the rear under hard braking anyway, the stock brake is fine back there.

Life is too short to ride an L.

Yea I understand that the performance benefits are not going to be great but just for looks. I like the newer calipers and discs. And also It would be nice to eliminate the bar that stabilizes the caliper.

Yes no need. One guy fitted a CBR rotor back there for appearances.. for me the slotted GS rotor is close enough. Bike brakes rarely match F-R anyway...

1977 rear discs need seriously upgraded, a 295mm 12 lb rotor is extremely excessive! Downsize to a 1978+ rotor & caliper hanger, or fab your own caliper hanger and have a machinist make a rotor adapter to fit a rear modern rotor around 260mm diameter, and a similar tokico 2 piston caliper from a GS500, Zephyr, etc. This would save substantial weight, but is all custom.

Look at Rickman rear calipers for how to get rid of the brake stay. No need to ditch them, really. Even tons of modern sport bikes run them still.

I'm running a newer 275mm front right floating rotor of substantially less weight on my rear.
