Stroking a 750 to a 1000cc?

From an article concerning how simple it was to create the GS1000:

"The short stroke 748cc engine was lengthened by 14.6mm to 70mm to give a capacity of 997cc. This hiked the power to 87 hp (90ps) but the GS' bottom half still remained totally bullet proof. Better still, it proved to be capable of prodigious amounts of tuning without losing any reliability. "

Can this be done to a '77 or '78 GS750 or are there other serious mods?

Easy to make the motor mounts by hand.

No but 850 pistons and cylinders fit right on.

Yes, it fits right in, everything hooks up the same.
I have one in my 750. Very easy.

I'm getting the glimmering of a stupid idea. If the 1000 is a stroked 750, and an 850 is a bored 750, then is an 1100 a stroked 850? You can see where this is going, and it is a stupid idea. My 850 runs fine. But just for future reference.

what model of 1000 has a 70 mm stroke??

all of my 1000's are 64.8mm and my 1100 is 66mm
