what is the favoured style of handlebars by riders on the GSR?
i prefer wide bars as i think it is more comfortable and gives me more leverage to get the old girl round corners. some prefer ace bars if they have a cafe racer style bike and obviously the guys with the custom models have the high rise bars.

just wondered as i am thinking of putting a pair of motocross bars on my bike but not sure what it would look like with the cross brace on?

PS. why do they call them a pair of handlebars when there is only one of them?

MX bars look like schizer on a street bike. I've been riding for about 30 or so years and the coolest looking bike (and I'm biased) besides a GS1000S is a Skunk GS1000E done up with a set of superbike bars black 4-into-1 pipe, rearsets, and topped off with a conservatively stepped seat. That has to be one of the toughest looking bikes ever. As a matter of fact when I'm done with my 1000S I'm going to look for a 78-80 E-model preferably a 78 Skunk and do her up.

I'd say that Daytona bars are probably the most popular among those that modified their bars with Superbike bars next. I like Daytona's but it depends on the bike too; bikes with a short drop between the seat and bars, like the early models, need more rise than a bike with a seat that sits down lower. At any rate, I didn't vote because their doesn't seem to be a choice that matches the bars I have.

I like daytonas as well, and superbike bars run a close 2nd. I didn't vote as these really didn't fit into any of the catagories either

+1 Went from superbike to europen bars to Daytonas. Like the comfort of the Daytonas best.

If you're going to quote me, put it all in there please. Is that a Yosh Street header. It looks like one I used have. I got rid of it because I could drag the thing in right handers all day long. I replaced it with a Chrome Yosh Race Pipe.

Control is a good thing to have.

I have control (and comfort!). Stand up, letting your arms hang at your sides. Keeping your elbows relaxed and still at your sides, bend your elbows to about 90 degrees. Move your elbows an inch or two forward. Wiggle your fingers. That's about where my grips are.

I rode my buddy's 2006 Goldwing for a few weeks, and a Harley 883 Sportster for a few hundred miles, and that little MSF BRC bike. I like my "L" bars the best. Next bike I get, I'm gonna need L bars.

ok i have now fitted a cross brace to my superbike bars. i quite like it.

Hmmm.... Unless the bars were flexing, I don't like it. It's a good place for a bit of white, but I have a problem with things that are only trying to look necessary or trying to like something they're not. Landau tops on cars make me sick.

BTW, I'm almost, but not quite, acclimated to seeing your bike in the living room.

I just converted back to the original bars via ebay, for my '76 GS750. Had superbike bars but it just didn't seem right. Now I'm comfortable, I look more retro, and I can lean back!
