Waiting on a rear wheel bearing.
Picked up an ignition.
Bought the original Dynatek Dragbike (Kris did)
Waiting on Bill (me) to build a motor to stick in it.

Well it is a "ROLLING CHASSIS" now. So now it time for other projects like the dragbike. Got to get it ready for the new season...so I will post pictures when I do some more. C-ya.

Yes it is,I used to race with the guy a long time ago but it didn`t click until his widow showed me a picture of him. To bad they left the bike out side for 5+ years.

As far as the welding debate goes, It all depends what you want to do. I picked up a Lincoln 140 from Lowes for about $500 over year ago, I set up a credit card, bought the welder and paid 25 bucks or more a month and its almost paid off... Im an ICAR Gold certified welder, but money was tight and this welder has done everything I've needed. For frame welding on my minitrucks I borrow my buddies 220. But in all honesty I bagged my friends Vw Bug with this welder

The guy did die. The wife was the seller.

I've just had old Iron monsters..
My first TIG was a 1956 Miller TA252BP.. 10-400 amp AC Tig.. Thing weighed 900 lbs..

I sold that when we moved to Denver and the movers said they couldn't load it.

Now I'm working with some friends to get a trio of Miller DialArc AC-DC 250A TIG welders be in shape..

You can pick up these old units in working condition for $250-$600 depending on the extras.. The trick is to find the single phase units..

Last month I got #17 150A air cooled tig torch w 25' cable and lug for $4 at a yard sale.. Tungsten and cap still in it. Wish I'd had more cash on me since he had a large view Hunter auto dim mask for $50.. Gone when I got back..

I'd love to have a Maxstar.. Nice units..

If you have a TIG torch with a gas valve you can tig with any AC or DC stick power supply.. You just need to scratch start or find an old high frequency add on box.

the miller maxstar150 is a great little machine that is stick/tig comes with everything you need to get started and is priced around 1500Can.I have a lincoln v160 s also works great had a better warrenty when i got it.Most manufacturers offer tig/stick inverter machines you will love the portability as well, as they are very light approx 15lbs

Hey man, I found your little synopsis to be informing! My roommate's maiden name is Fullagar! Whodathunk it? I'd personally like to pick up some welding skills for the projects I have in mind for the future. (Front end conversion, new rear swing arm) I figured I'd just buy a welder, a pile of scrap, and make sure I have some sort of profieciency before laying down the cash for school. Any suggestions on a new welder in the $1000 price range?

P.S. I'm by no means a straight-liner, but I do enjoy your build threads! Keep up the hard work, it shames me into getting back into the garage myself! I may one day try to build a drag bike myself.

Thanks, see if your community college has a class if they do it will be cheap ie;price of class,books and material. Start out with a "Buzz Box" (small Lincon welder) Get one with AC/DC,that way you can use any rod and it will weld better than just AC alone. Brand new, these guys run around 400-500$ but there are plenty of used ones out there so shop around. A TIG welder is the best...but they are expensive. If your welding aluminum,stainless,magnisium and chromoly steel it it the ONLY way to go.

WOW CBX...That will be a fun one! I have a buddy that has a turbo kit for one if your interested. Be careful of the valve train that is their weak point.

I was too! But it is designed for it and it works good. Makes it easy to clean

a oven isnt needed,its a good purpose metal, on a frame like that theres no need for stainless either
there are a lot of ppl out there as hobbiest that havent gone to schools for it ,is all ,just helping how ever i could ,before i got the 3rd degree,and a lecture on how good someone was, dont care if it snaps off now

Sorry that I ruffled your feathers I to am a hobbiest but I wanted to learn more. I went to a community college and liked it so much i got a degree in it. I don`t do it for a living but for fun. I did it to prove to myself that I could do it. Nuff said.

Judas priest...I try to give you some back ground on welding so you can get educated and you jump my case How many bikes have you built or modified to do 8 or 7 seconds in the 1/4 mile? I put the pictures up for people to see and maybe get ideas thats all. What a mistake on my part by putting these pictures up.
