Sorry to hear that EBay head was damaged. BTW can anyone post a picture of a GS1100G head with a D shaped port? It would be quite useful to be able to identify the D shaped port feature so I can make an educated buy.

Next does the GS1000 Valve Cover fit on the GS1100G Head or do I need to find one of those?

You'll know the D-port when you see it; the short side radius is flatter than a regular 1000 head. 1983 is the start point so be careful since there was a 1982 1100G which is not what you want. And yes, the valve cover is unique to the 1100 head.

Regarding the head I bought, the seller has acted indignant up to this point; no "sorry" at all, only send it back and "if" he can verify the claim he will work though ebay to reverse the transaction. He packed the head very poorly and five valve buckets fell out, and the other three are now jammed into there bores skewed at an angle. The valve buckets that fell out gouged out two of the cam bearing saddles. Oh, and at least four of the exhaust port bolt threads are damaged. Guy's a hack. Fingers crossed that he offers up a proper refund.

If you want to keep it old school, sell your VM29's, get some VM33's, and keep the change. 33's go for a little less. Z-1 sells booths that will make them fit your head.

Post his Ebay name so the rest of us don't have to deal with him.

                49er,
Great photo, clearly shows the D Port feature. Thanks for posting that

                Wkmpt,
Does your GS1100G head have the same port shape?

                Thx

                    You're welcome.

I'm holding on to this 1100G mill until ready for a really big bore job. It's currently playing second fiddle to another Big Bore 850 project that'll end up at 1023cc. Due to start that soon.

I bought along with a whole tub of parts, so I'm not certain honestly. I know it's an 1100 head, and since it appears to have the round ports that would make it an '82, correct?

Cannot tell, we need a photo like 49er took to tell for sure.
BTW, I am also looking for a 83-84 GS1100G head for this project.
