    79' GS850 Brake upgade!!

Well thanks to a few guys from this site I was able to upgrade the brakes on my 79' GS850.

    Installed brakes from a 1980 GS1000.

Looks like Ill be able stop on a dime now...

The brake calipers look great but please ditch those old rubber lines. Suzuki call for replacing them every two years so you are 29 years overdue.

Good suggestion. Even better to replace them with after market stainless steel lines and fit some dupont kevlar pads as well. Makes a huge difference to braking performance on these bikes.

A very good question. I still have a set that was fitted to the later model calipers now on the bike. From my research, I believe they originated from the UK. I haven't been able to locate a replacement Dupont set yet. I did locate a cheap set from Taiwan, but aren't sure of their exact composition or quality yet.

The Dupont Kevlar's are lasting really well and are easy on the rotors. If you do locate a source, please let us know of it's whereabouts!

EBC makes a kevlar pad (dupont kevlar is a brand name not necessarily the company that manufactured the pads)

Thanks for the link. I re-checked my Kevlar pads. The brand name is "Premier". I've found pads under this brand for other bikes, but none are listed as available for the GS850-1100G series.
