I learned the hard way - use only genuine seals. You used to be able to use non OEM stuff up until a few years ago but there's so much rubbish about now I wouldn't risk it.

Mine toasted and crumbled in less than a year.

I use AND sell the Viton seals & both guys above are WRONG on this one! They outlast & seal better than the stock Suzuki seals & that is something I DON'T say very often!!! Ray.

Ray - do you stock the 8V/7mm stem vitons ?

Given that our alternatives on this side of the world are OE - overpriced, or Vesrah which have dropped in quality I'd prefer to buy from someone with a known record in dealing with performance parts.

If they're the pukka jobbies then I'd agree with Ray. However, what I'm saying is in this day and age there's a load of junk around purporting to be what it isn't. The seals I bought 2-3 years ago on the interweb were supposed to be Viton and looked and felt ok but they were totally crisped in 9 months. Just safer if it comes in a package with the red S on.

Ray, have you used this particular brand, or are they sold as generic?

Viton is a Dupont trademarked family of rubber compounds that comes in various grades - some more chemical resistant than others. Just because these are made of "Viton" rubber, that's no guarantee they are good. Also, the physical dimensions could make a difference. The valve stems typically are a tight fit inside the valve spring, so if the seal is too fat, the spring could pull it loose. The OE seals have a narrow OD with a metal band so they don't pull loose. Not saying this would happen, just saying that it's an unknown unless someone like Ray has personal experience with these particular seals.

These seem a little harder material than suzi seals as well.

I build 8 valve motors too but they are few & far between so I only order parts for them when I need them. Too low of demand. Ray.
