Motorcycle valve spring compressor: which one?

Hi!

I'd like to get a motorcycle valve spring compressor that is suitable for GS1100/1150 and also for GSXR750/1100.

I've been looking at item 330440410877 and wondered if it could do the job.

This tool look small, 4 5/8 between the jaw.A gs valve is around 3.5''.
if you have a pressdrill you can remove or install the keeper with it.

Look on BassCliff's site, you will find a video that I made, showing how I made my own compressor with some PVC pipe and a $12 C-clamp. Different size PVC or steel pipe can be used for the adapters.

However, if you can get one as cheap as the one in the link, GO FOR IT.

Looks quite easy on the two valve compared to a 4 valve. I usually have to place the keepers with one hand while holding the clamp in place with the other. I am going to look for an 8" c-clamp, the 6" isnt really big enough.

I checked all the posted dimensions of it and confirmed it would work, so I bought one. I will let you know how it works

After seeing that you had checked the dimensions, I pulled the trigger on this one:

I think that these are probably the same ... just different cases.

I bought a factory Suzuki spring compressor over 25 years ago & would never consider a different one. I love mine & it has been problem free. PLUS, it accepts all the different diameter spring collets Suzuki makes for different engines. Ray.

Yes I have a press drill but ... for the price ... I will try that compressor. If it doesn't work for me ... it will end up on Ebay again.

The only thing I am a bit worried about is the strength of the clamp, depending on how strong your valve springs are.

I can easily understand that Ray. These are your tools of trade. Engine building is what you do for a living. You therefore owe to have top quality tools.
In my case, it's just a hobby ... and this tool will certainly not be used very often.

It's not really that expensive a tool for what you are getting if you buy the Suzuki tool. Ray.
