Lockhart oil cooler removal

Hello all, picked up a 77 GS750 a few months ago for a new winter project (will post pics once I get some decent ones).

The bike came with a lockhart oil cooler unit, had a question I am hoping someone on here will take the time to answer:

I am cleaning up the bike, and find it to be sorta ugly truth be told. It also make oil filter changes a PITA (maybe it needs longer hoses but it is very tight in front of the filter). It looks like the Oil pressure sending unit is an aftermarket part designed for this system (see pic), if I do ditch the cooler is it possible to make a quick loop of hose from the exit/intake or will I need to source an original sending unit?

I don't see why you couldn't loop it - then again i'm sure there are many original units floating around. Also - Check your private messages (in the top right corner)

You can loop it but I'd only do it temporary. I have a stock plate I'd gladly trade for that one. Drop me a PM if interested.

I am thinking about taking the aftermarket oil cooler off of my bike as I don't like the looks of it. Is there any reason the loop should only be temporary ?
