If you don't know about it is ; If you reverse the sump pickup tube the problem can be averted.

is this a problem with the 1000's as well? i have APE high volume pump gears, how do you mean by reverse the sump pick up tubes, or is that just an 1100 thing?

You want the gage as far from the oil pump as you can get it. The cam PSI is you only concern for the oil PSI. the rest of the engine is all roller bearing. Having gage down on cases will not tell you what want to know.

I have used a damper to reduce fluctuations in the pressure reading.

my strainer just fits into an orifice that is in the bottom crankcase and then goes straight to the pressure switch and associated oil ways. no seperate pipes
