    SHocks & Exhaust back at Z1

    Z1 Enterprises specializes in quality Motorcycle parts for Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha Classic Japanese motorcycles from the 1970's and 1980's.


    These shocks would likely work for the G models with eye to eye. 1/4" short but not a big deal in my opinion.

    I think you'd have to either replace the top eye bush with one from Suzuki or shim it down with some 1/2" pipe or similar as I believe top mount on S is 12mm not 14mm.

    $60 puts them ahead of the MDI's if they work anywhere near as well.....

    They also have V&H's back in stock for 1100 through to 750.

    The shocks are for a H1 Kawasaki at about 383lbs and you want to use them on a G model? I think they would too over loaded, GS650G=470lbs: GS850G=558lbs: GS1000G=551lbs: GS1100G=544lbs.

      Good point Graham. They could be a bit flimsy on a G model of any size.

        Hmm... so what happens when you put a 250lb person on a Kawasaki then... that shocks going to be as overloaded as one on a GS with my 160lb butt on it...

        As with all suspension you have to figure it out for weight. The shaft etc looked to be of welded construction & similar size to Suzuki stock, same as MDI, same as progressive etc.

        If you're not happy with it - don't buy a set! Same for everyone else, you make your own choices & decisions.
        The guys at Z1 may have a maximum GVW for those shocks but I doubt it.....

        For $60 I don't think it's a big risk to try - they are sure to be better than a knackered 30 year old shock with no damping left....

          Why can't V&H's make exhaust for us 650 guys?? I don't think it'd be that hard to change the gap between the cylinders

            Can't you get a 750 one & bend it yourself? The 850/1000G require you to make up a mounting spacer for the back end anyway.....

              I've thought about it, but I haven't done the research to see the difference in gap yet.
