    Also, a couple of members claim to have retrofitted the 70's kicker onto 80-82 GS550s. Not that this helps the OP with the twin...

      I'd definitely keep the 450.

      From what I understand, the transmission on the 450 is the same as on the GS400/425, and that being the case, if I could find the right side case from a 425, I'd be in business.

        Hmmm... me thinks some parts fiche searching is in order... surely it couldn't be that simple? How awesome would my scrambler be with a kicker...

          On the 80-82 550 Suzuki never changed the casting for the crank case after dropping the kicker, so the internal mount was still there - though the holes were not tapped. I have no clue if that was the case on the twins or not.
