I don't have the time or the resources to push this anymore so if it happens it will be because the person I paid actually did his job and then called me. I can't baby sit him anymore. It's like anything else in life, time to move on. I truly don't care anymore, I've let it go. I'll get it back, no worries there. I just have no idea when I might actually have time to work on it.

For anyone who wants to know

This is actually not dead, believe it or not. I was out and talked with Joe yesterday. He was out of the country on hiatus for a few months after a lengthy illness for those who didn't know.

Now that he is back he assures me we will get this done this year. I've heard that before (coming up on 5 years now) so I am not holding my breath but it was encouraging to see that he has my bike sitting in the front with all of the other "current" projects. This was before he knew I was coming so it isn't like he rolled it out there because he knew I was coming. I totally just popped in by surprise on him because I was in the area.

Anyway, the game plan has actually not changed at all. I still plan to finish this at some point and use the 29mm smoothies on it now. Paint will probably happen as a separate project sometime down the road.

I love this bike and there is no way I am letting it go off to nothing-land...

Just though that some of you would like to know

Wow I just read through this whole thing.

Hopefully it gets done soon. My first bike mechanic was great to work with in the beginning. He wasn't busy and did everything I wanted him to in a timely manner. Then times got hard for him and he wanted me to start paying up front. I honestly think I was his only customer for that first winter I had the bike. He started getting lazy and my requests weren't being met. I got my bike back 5 months after I bought it. The work wasn't very good, and I forced myself to start working on it myself. I've been extremely frustrated with this bike many times now (and tried to sell it for far less than I have into it) but now that it's running really good, I can't imagine not having it.

and I hear you on liking these 70s bikes more than the 80s bikes. I think they just have mojo. I rode a buddies 80s CB750 a couple of times around the block and hated it. I've also helped him work on it and again hated everything about it.

Mark, good to hear from you.
Neither of us spend as much time around here as we used to and I just wanted to say "hi" while I had a chance.
Without trying to sound negative I find this whole thing amazing. You sure have patience.
Hope things are going well for you and maybe both of us can post a bit more...you know, like the olden days.
By the way, I bought a new '07 ZX14 in metallic Diablo black. Named him "Fury". Looks perfect next to "Black Beauty".
And on the seventh day, after resting from all that he had done,God went for a ride on his GS!
Upon seeing that it was good, he went out again on his ZX14! But just a little bit faster!

Bumping this back from the dead. Not sure if you'll get a reply notification, but I'd love to hear how the project's coming along.

LMAO! I should hope he's done. He started on it 8 years ago.

Me too, but we haven't heard from him in almost four years. He used to be one of the most prolific posters on here.
