    82 750 Valves

can you tell by listening with the engine running that your valves may need adjustment?

    Thanks

If your valves are out of adjustment by a small amount, you probably won't be able to hear anything unusual from the valve train. By the time you could hear the rattle from the valves train, your probably going to be experiencing some engine issues.
    Hope this helps

The shim type as they wear the clearances get smaller and will not make noise. The 16 valve motors with the screw adjustment the clearances will get larger as a result will make noise.
So yes you will hear noise Probably..

It's easy to tell if your valves need to be adjusted. Remove the valve cover and measure them. I can't believe how many people neglect this bit of critical maintenance.

          To measure is to know.

            ummm,
if you hear loud tapping sounds....thats not good.
the 80-82 750 engines tend to spin rod bearings which sounds like a loose valve.
just a heads up as you have rocker arm adjusters and there easy enough to check for extreme lash.
            good luck with your project.
