I lived in the McAllen area for about 12 years. Out around McCook there are a few nice roads and the road along the arroyo from Rio Hondo to Arroyo City isn't too bad.

I thought my kat Speedo/tacho was out until recently and found out it had 750 backcut gears in it from my mechanic. It would rev over 9000rpm real quick but would only get to around 170 kph.
530 chain and 19front/45rear sprockets have now fixed that.
1166kit, EFE cams and RS36 carbs also helps a wee bit :-)
