Comments on different cams for GS 1150

    Hi !

I have been looking for a new set of cams for my GS1150, as a replecement for the restricted cams,
(Type B: 100hp for Sweden), that are currently installed.

What I have found is a set with 0.340" lift and 240 degree duration at 0.05". They seem to be
somewhat hotter then the standard type A cams. Question: Do I need to modify anything else
with that grind on the cams, like harder valve springs, hardened rockers, external oil feed lines?

    Hi!
Has the cams been replaced by the restricted ones? If so, I understand your wish to change. What set of cams did you find? Is it the Web #223? Could be a good choice if you stumbled on them. Should increase mid and top end. Dont forget to rejet your carbs though.

The 84-87 1150 were, in Sweden, restricted in the carbs not allowing the throttles to go all the way up. A much nicer restriction than 80-83?s in milder cams.

You probably can by with only a cam swap at 340 lift. Anything more would need valve springs for sure. If you have aftermarket pistons a 355 lift would be better.
