    Lower RPM'S?

    What's up gang?

I have a 83GS1100E. I would like to get more cruising speed on the highway and lower the r's. What sprocket set up could I use to get it? I'm curently using 15 front and 48 in the rear.

    Peace!

Try 16 front. Your cruising rpm will drop a noticeable amount and the change is simple and cheap.

Stock 15/42 would bring it down from 3.20:1 to a more reasonable 2.80:1.
I am changing my '81 to 16/41 (2.5625:1) to get the rpm closer to 4,200 at 70 mph.
With 15/42, it is currently at 60 mph @ 4,000 rpm.

I put a 16 on the front of my GS a couple of years ago. Cruising at 70-80 mph, rpm dropped about 400, a significant amount. Also, the front sprocket is a lot cheaper than a rear one, if price is a factor.
