    Replacement Speedo & Rev Counter

    Hi,

Just purchased my wife a 1978 GS 550..she's loves it but hates the original speedo and rev counter..even through it all works very well.

What is the easiest, of the shelf, to re-fresh this?

    any ideas?

    cheers

I have used this on my 81 Gs550 and it worked well. got both the speedo and tacho.

Those mini tach and speedo dials work quite well and bolt straight on. You do lose the idiot lights though. Have you considered the gauges from something a bit later - separate speedo / tacho with the idiot light console / gear indicator in the middle.

I like this Trail Tech speedo/tach. Cost about $175 with the lights, from trailtech.net or Amazon.

The mini gauges are also good and more traditional-looking, and some are available with integrated warning lights. Check http://www.mikesxs.net/product/03-0744.html

I've never had a bike with a gas gauge. I just watch my odometer.

There's some nice gauges here with lights and good prices.

I just put the base model Acewell 2853 on my 450 and I'm loving it. Round all in one unit with speedo and tacho, but all digital of course. It has a fuel gauge as well but not sure if it will work with the GS fuel level sender.

Hello, I have clocks from a Hesketh V1000 on mine, look ok if not a little large. I have been told that Hesketh can provide these new for £40 + P&P.

Those Hesketh clocks are just CB750F clocks but with Hesketh stamped in place of Honda. Loads and loads of Honda ones around secondhand and loads of Hesketh new ones around as well - the minimum factory order for the clocks was way more than the number of bikes Hesketh turned out
