    yay or nay?

I'm putting different bars on my gs750 and was curious if this was worth a shot or if I should just buy new..

Have you tried just re-routing them first before buying new cables?
You would be surprised at just how big a difference it could make.

I have. But the problem lies in the fact that the cable that's on it now is about 6 inches too long for the handlebars that are on it, and I'm going with lower bars.

I would not be cutting and soldering anything that controls clutch throttle or brake. Just my .02...

If you can solder go for it. You're best off getting hold of some brass nipples - or make your own out of something like an old ball valve float arm. Nothing wrong with making your own at all - it's easy and usually stonger if you do it right.

The price of a new cable isn't that much. When you factor in that you would know for sure that the new cable isn't potentially fraying somewhere, it seems worth it to me.

I seen the same video and was ready to try my hand at it, but when I decided to monkey around with routing (had already tried it, but obviously didn't try enough routes because...) it all fell into place. No kinks, nice snap back on the throttle, and a good smooth pull and return on my clutch. I went from the buckhorns to superbike bars btw.

It's a good point. I may just go with new since I'd have to cut a foot or more off of the current cable. It's 6" over right now and I'm going from buckhorns to clubmans.

You can use up most of that 6" of extra clutch cable by routing the clutch cable outboard of the #1 carb, instead of between 1 and 2. Obviously, I'm assuming the stock 750 routes the cable between them. I'm not sure. Anyhow, that's what I did on my 850GL when I put the Daytona bars on. The length is almost perfect now. The throttle cable does still loop pretty far forward with the stock routing, but I haven't had any trouble out of that.
