Seeing Behind You

It's not an option I really wanted to do. I have nice long mirrors on the 750 which work just fine. But on the 1100 they are mounted on the fairing and don't leave me many choices. However I just had a look at the 1100 and I don't see a place I could mount the screen anyway. So I'm back to the Reevu helmet option.

Let us know how that Reevu works out. I like the idea, but my concerns are the quality of the picture in the mirror in odd lighting and precipitation, and if the forward view is cut off too low vertically.

I don't want to be the sacrificial guinea pig on this one.

I tried the full coverage at last years Vancouver motorcycle show. But I didn't try it with glasses on. So I am a bit concerned with focus at close range. Unfortunately they will not be at this years show so I'm humming and hawing a bit. But if I do buy one I'll put a full review on. I am in communication with their rep so maybe I'll just ask him.

If it's like a regular mirror, you focus on the distance to what you are viewing, not the distance to the mirror. Not sure how this works in this case. I think it is just an elaborate arrangement or mirrors, isn't it?

Hi Garth There is a possibility the helmets will be in a local dealer's booth " Top Gear". (604) 255-6247. We were just at a show displaying the modular. You can put the helmet on without taking off your glasses. If you have thick frames, you can lower the mirror surface above or below. There are tons of people wearing Reevus with glasses. There is a misconception out there. The rider is not suppose to be looking directly into the mirror. If you have the helmet correctly fitted, within 2-3 hrs of riding you will be able to see behind you using your peripheral vision. Looking directly into the mirror is easy. The only time you need to really do this is when you are initially setting it up. The entire idea of the technology is to be able to see behind you while looking forward not taking your eyes from the view of the road ahead. That is why we call it " The game Changer"! all you need to see behind you is headlights, vehicles and cops. You don't need to distinguish logos. D

As far as I know it is a system of mirrors and some kind of optical tubing.They had some kind of long winded explanation at the show that went in one ear and out the other. Here's a link.

Backup Camera

Hey bccap!
After hittin the ground a few times (motorcycle/skis/bike,,..) it gets harder & harder to swing my head around.
So I got some backup cameras, for the Suburban and even for the back of the 27' Travel Trailer.
They are wireless (802.11), but wired units are even cheaper ($35).
Clips onto your Liscence Plate.
They work quite well, and you'll learn to read liscence plates reversed.
Type in "backup camera" into eBay, tons'o'stuff.
A 4.3" display might just fit fine. Will power ON with bike.
Camera is waterproof, but display is not.
Also my display is not that bright, could be an issue in bright sun.
