Man! Has it been since July of 2014 since I looked at this?
The fire is starting to burn again!

Glad to see you're back on here! I saw your membership have been revoked to guest status from not logging in... Now you have to start all over again with your post count! Things could be worse... Glad to see you're back with the GS or still with the GS that is!

If you ever want to sell some of those spare Fox Shox springs, I'm looking for another set or two in various rates

          Welcome to the site, Turbo.
They are Astralite wheels. Very pricey.... IF you can find them.

              I'm back.

Okay, so the ball is rolling again. Took some time off to pursue other hobbies, but the "jones" has me bad.
The front end is complete, and mocked up for the 8th time it seems. Bars mounted, stops mounted and gauges mounted.

The old girl is back on her own legs for the first time in 5 years! I actually took it down off the jack-stands & rolled it out into the driveway and made "VROOM VROOM! noises!

She is up on the lift & where a "gentlemen" can work on her, without bending over.

Oil drained & filter replaced, replacement Pingel petcock & other goodies ordered

Still have much to do, finish brakes & fender mount, new chain & sprockets etc, etc, etc.

So a Pingel fuel valve arrived the other day, along with the mounting plate. Went onto the tank easy enough...

                  20200728_163248.jpg

For others wanting to use the double outlet Pingel in the future... order the offset plate. Once the tank is mounted, there is interference with the Kehein CRs...

Back to Z1E for the offset unit.

So it's been a long time coming, but we're rolling again. New sprockets & chain set from Sprocket Specialists, and a new sprocket spacer from a kind friend with a lathe!

Major update! It runs again! It's been since 2015, but it's running again. Last night I installed the chain, lowered the lift to ground level & put a gallon of Sunoco's finest in it. After cranking a bit, she fired up & sat on fast idle. Turned off the choke & she purred as she always did.

The tires are hard as bowling balls, and my credit card needs to take a time out for a couple of weeks, but tires are next & then a test ride!!!

So I had a great weekend in the garage. I put the majority of the finishing touches on my fork upgrade...
My conversion is all but complete. I still need a speedo cable and tires, But I'm pretty happy with the conversion.
                          be safe guys.

I did manage a quick trip around the block on the aged and rock hard tires. I was reminded that I still need a speedo cable. None of the ones in the shop were suitable.

I also had to think twice about the GP style shifter... it may go back to standard. The new radial master cylind

I also had to think twice about the GP style shifter... it may go back to standard. The new radial master cylinder works great... we as great as the bowling ball mounted on the front wheel would handle. I also have a slight "clunk" in the front end. More research needed to determine if it's in the neck bearings or forks.

So, tires, insurance & tags and it's official again. I had such a good time, that I tore down the Mrs' Kawasaki for a similar treatment.

                            Looks very nice. Good work.
But I'm curious to know if at any time you have measured the trail on that front end ?

I have not. I fully expect it is less than std, given there is less offset in the triples and a slightly shorter set of forks.

I might do that just out of curiosity & see what it is....

I expect it to be more than standard. Flat triples with less offset mean more trail, not less.
