Modified Oil Pan

F flow is a little different but the parts are still out there if you look.
of course the shaft being the hard to come by item...but not impossible.
i have plenty of carbon seals

I have a few misc parts for them as well that I will never use.

Had a carbon seal crack once when a bearing failed (lack of oil) but other than that, not had problems with them.

Should mention..... After making all the changes to the oil system, it was pretty common for me to send out some big smoke screens in the shutdown. First, I thought this was the seal drawing oil into the intake when I closed the throttle. Then figured out oil was backing up. I made some fittings and opened the drain up to half inch ID. Had to mod some of the original parts from the kit. That solved that problem.

I tried to locate a replacement F shaft a few years ago. As you suggest, they are hard to find. Had one given to me but the blades were damaged.

small well added to stock pan. deeper would have been better



about 4 seconds of data from various pickups. green is around 30 psi, anything above is good.



suspect the green is sucking air. white is where I ended up with the pipe and sump.

Very interesting information - thanks for posting it.
While i don't have anything to do with drag bikes now, i have a roadrace customer who prefers to save front tyre rubber by wheelying as much as possible....Next time the sump is off that motor, I may just copy the rear pickup layout....

the pan is the lowest part of the bike so i couldn't make the well much deeper and still keep a safe ground clearance.

side view showing a stock pan. billet pan has a slant towards the rear to gain a little more clearance. the other bike is a 1150 frame with stock motor position. that bike uses the stock pan with the added well.

What about using a Ward oil pickup extender? Would the purpose/results of using these oil pick up extenders be similar to your modified oil pans?

Good point. You can't tell from the picture I posted. I thought they offered a few different spacers and that I bought the tallest one. Original thread survived:

I was wondering if any one has ever tried using a swing type pick up like they do on the current models like these at Brock's on any GS models while modifying there oil pans as I have seen so many neat ways so far in this thread. http://www.brocksperformance.com/Oil...ffles+C19.aspx

I have not seen one. May be a good solution for an adult go-kart project.

I did have a good friend of mine back in the 70's that had a trap door setup on his 900 Kaw. Not sure how effective it was. Doing a search, I found this:

When I made up my baffles, I did not want any moving parts. Maybe a hinge would have worked better.
