You might want to return that 2000 and get a Dyna S. More appropriate for the bike and much less expensive. The 2000 has a built in advance curve, but the 1000G has a centrifual advance unit so you don't need that feature.

One tach wire is for each pulse and one for every other pulse.
You have a mechanical tachometer so you don't need an electronic tach.

You don't need to connect either the green or yellow wire on your particular bike. Cover the end of the bare wires with something so they don't accidentally ground to something and tie them up so they are out of the way. Once properly set up you will love that ignition. I have one on my KZ1000 and it works flawless.

It will be necessary to disable to spark advance feature on the control unit, which is the main reason for buying the Dyna 2000 over the Dyna S in the first place. Should work if you do that but it's a big waste.

I agree, Ed. I'd rather sell the 2000 and install the correct ignition and be done with it.

I have a brand new dyna S in a box -- want to trade? I need the 2000 functions on a bike I'm in the middle of -I'm going to buy one anyway

I know there is a price difference but if you want a ignition that is easier to install. PM me

That's a crazy trade Dyna 2000 is worth 2.5 times as much or more than a Dyna S.

I agree, Ed. He'd be far better off if he sold it and bought a new Dyna S. They are not that much.

This is the factory install instructions and I did see something about the tach wires you were asking about, Hope this helps a little. http://www.powercommander.com/downlo...-5_2-1_3-2.pdf
