    The welding on the top of the case looks to me to be too far inboard to be for primary gear clearance. Could it be a repair ?

      its a modified GS750 clutch thats all i know. the welding is for the primary gear, dont forget it has the clutch cover spaced out in order to use the lock up clutch, that is what makes the welding look further in than it actually is.
      1978 GS1085.

        The 750 primary gear won't fit the GS1100E cases without a little grinding on the inside for clearance.
