    2.88888888.9 is almost factory gearing(2.8).

        Its pretty easy to feel, IMO. I'm 500rmp higher at 70mph than I was with stock gearing as well.

          Your old gearing must have been taller than stock gearing for that much difference in rpm

            I'm not sure what else to say. AFAIK the previous setup was all original but there's a difference of 500RPM at 70mph in 5th gear right before then right after I installed everything.

                15/42 would be 2.8
                what was yours?

                15/41 would be 2.73

                  I didn't count but from the RPM and butt-dyno difference I'm banking on 15/41.

                    My '78 GS750E is 15/41 stock. Motorcyclist recommended a 15/43 combination, which is what I installed along with the 530 change conversion. You wouldn't want to go below 15 on the front sprocket.
