I'm new to degreeing cams. On a GS1100 can you put the point of the dial indicator on the retainer on top of the valve spring?
I tried to get it on the small valve adjuster screw head and it doesn't stay on through the full range of opening and closing. Putting it on the valve spring retainer seems to give me repeatable results.
I want to do is be able to check the numbers that the previous builder set the cams at before I disassemble it.
