Bone stock '84 1150 dyno.
Finally got the 1150 on the dyno last night. When I was in the carbs, I was happy to see all the stock jets, needles etc. I was also curious to see whether or not I had screwed anything up! She has been running very well since I went through it over the winter but needed to know for sure. I was hoping for 100 at the wheel so I'm pretty happy. The graph says flywheel hp, but it's wheel hp and torque.Tags: None

I was happy with the hp numbers but even happier with the torque numbers.Attached Files

Cool, thanks for posting. Ive always been curious. Dig that flat torque line...sigpic

My EF has a few more go fast goodies and would have liked to do a back to back but it's chain and battery-less at the moment. It has a stage 3 carb kit, K&N filter, supertrapp exhaust and dyna 2000 ignition with stock internals. (I think) I'd love to see what those gains would be.

Less the aftermarket ignition, mine is basically set up like your EF. Iw would definitely be interesting to see the effect of the go fast goodies, and how they compare to the hype.Originally posted by Mark1 View PostMy EF has a few more go fast goodies and would have liked to do a back to back but it's chain and battery-less at the moment. I posted this a while back to try and relate the various dyn numbers to the factory specs. The conclusion was that for a chain drive there is a 15% difference between crank and wheel.
If I use a 124 hp at the flywheel for the 1150 I get 105.4h p at the wheel which would be 3.4% lower than your reported high. The bike is obviously running well and the dyno results are a little high (3.4%) but within reasonable accuracy limits.

Yes indeed. And 110 at the rear wheel is nothing to be ashamed of in these old beasts.Originally posted by dorkburger View PostDig that flat torque line...1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

I never did get the manufacturer of the dyno, but even with 105.4hp I'm a happy man. Like I said, I was going to be happy with 100hp. The bigger happiness comes not from the tq numbers themselves, but the flatness of the tq curve. It feels like I can ride around in one gear all day long.Originally posted by posplayr View PostI posted this a while back to try and relate the various dyn numbers to the factory specs. I know this is an old post, but very cool, and thanks for posting.
I'm kind of amazed that the peak is at around 7500 RPM.
I'm trying to find a dyno now to do some baseline testing before I add any power goodies. I already have some little things though.

I would like to see air fuel readings also -- all stock - like above I was guessing 80 in reality at the wheel HP for mine.
simple stage 3 and vance hines megaphone dyna "S" had me guessing 110 - but this gives me a little hope I may have 112 - lol I'm such a crappy tuner.SUZUKI , There is no substitute
