    Thinking ahead - ring thickness?

    Hi errbody - again. :P

So I have minimal issues with our GS300L, none of which involve digging into the engine. I'm just thinking of tricking out another 300 engine to swap in one day - ceramic coating wherever a flame touches, gapless rings, possibly a 450 gearset if possible(6 gears would be nice), along with the normal pod/pipe/jetting mods. Typical insanity in my head LOL!

So what is the typical ring thickness on these engines?

The 300s don't have six speeds? Who'd a thunk it.

You got the insanity part right.

Info like ring thickness can be found inside the factory service manual. Purchasing one would be a good start to your project.

Doesn't a 450 engine just bolt right into a 300 frame? Comes with a six speed and everything.

If it in fact does, then we may just do that instead! Would the 300's 4V head be a direct bolt-on by chance? Either way I think Mama would be happy... and I'd likely NEED to find a Vmax to keep up with her LOL!
