Can a oil cooler be added to my GS1100?
Just wondering if anyone has had problems with a GS1100 overheating and has anyone added an after market oil cooler or is it even nesessary? Just curious.
Thanks.Tags: None -
Assuming it would be the shafty in your signature, yes, it's probaby possible, but hardly necessary. I can't imagine it getting hot enough in Canadia to need one.
By the way, even though you have de-K'd your bike, there are still some unique things about it that would make ordering parts for an 1100G difficult. If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space. -

yes super ez. I just did it to my gs1100 . Use the search tool ( least used tool in everyone's tool box) in the upper right on the banner . I did not do a thermostat but there are oil coolers with them built in with bypasses. I added one as I am in traffic regular and like to bring the rev's up to the power band. Heres the result I got typing in GS1100G oil cooler in the tool. http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...archid=1935804Last edited by Guest; 08-26-2017, 08:03 AM.Comment

I'd skip the cooler and get some synthetic oil. It handles the heat better. Some of that 15W-50 that Earl likes would be a good choice.Ed

You only THINK it's hotter because your body relies on sweat evaporation for cooling. In higher humidity, it doesn't work as well.
As far as engine cooling goes, temerature is temperature, humidity does not matter.
Next, you are probably going to try to convince us that it's colder when the wind blows.
Wrong again, temperature is temperature. If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.Comment
