Old signals are off. The PO never ceases to amaze me. Scotch tape on the wires of the rear "sport bike" signals, homemade rubber mounts for the rear signals as well. Front signals weren't hacked up (amazingly).

Man, you should've seen the "mods" done to the FZR I had. And my buddy's GS700E has more woodscrews in it than my entire f*cking house!

What's keeping it from running? Did you get that sender?

Yes, sorry Mike I posted receiving it another thread. It's soaking Evaporust right now. Ignition problem now. I sprayed some ether in it and can't even get the engine to cough. :-| There goes my trip for this weekend.

Oh and going to try take a torch to the header piper tonight to free them from the old system for you tonight.

Sounds good. Good luck with the ignition.

Oh and I finally fixed the logo on the V&H pipe using hight temp gasket maker. Worked perfectly.

Sweet. Did they end up making good?

Nope. :? The friendly guy at the Advanced Auto Parts was more than willing to help me make it work though. Figures right?

The airbox cover is now de-rusted (Evaporust) and coated with bumper black. The new long stalk front turn signals are in and so are a bunch of NOS hardware/fasteners and a brand new headlight bucket (oh so shiny). \\/ The rear signals are going in next. Pics to follow if daylight allows it.

Oil and filter have been done, the sending unit UncleMike sent me is squeaky clean and devoid of rust.

Dammit... From celebration to commiseration. The headlight bucket is on. Too bad the headlight trim ring/assembly doesn't line up to the new holes. Also the rear signals were sagging so I pulled them back off to come up with a proper solution. In the meantime I pulled the rear signal mounts and have decided to clean and paint them while the assembly is apart. Speaking of paint. The airbox cover is now coated with bumper black (rubber spray) and top coated with Rustoleum Black. So it's pretty and shiny now. I put it outside for a final bake in full sun today (95 degrees outside). More to come.

Greetings, my friend. While we've never met or even talked, I feel as if I know you somewhat after perusing this thread for the first time. And as a graduate of Walter Johnson HS in Bethesda (I moved to the eastern shore some years ago but I get back to the old stomping grounds periodically) I've got to say that I can't wait until your pride and joy is running and we can do this D.C. ride that we all talked about this spring but never did as a group (it was sabotaged by awful weekend weather, among other things).

Gotta say that I love the look of your T, although I think I slightly prefer the red over the gray.

Too bad the V&H guys weren't much help in sorting out what was THEIR screwup on the emblem. Hope you have luck fitting the muffler w/o damaging the pipe.

You can ignore what anyone says about the amount you've invested in the GS vs. what you can sell it for - there is no way to put a price on the satisfaction you will feel everytime you ride her once she's finished (I'm guessing your GS is a 'she').
