No need for special treatment, your bike can use same as others! most Shindengens will work for you. If space is a problem, opt for one off ninjas as they are slightly smaller.

My generator cover and regulator itself are getting RED hot like too hot to touch so I'm guessing the regulator is on its way out? weird

Hopefully, the cover is not glowing yet! Your stator is likely fried and has or will shortly destroy the R/R. You should do some testing ! Basscliff has a simple analysis

            will this regulator work

Confused by the regulator rectifier list. It says to use one at least 25 amps then shows a 232-12 that says 18amps as ok to use. I have an 83 gs850g and i am looking at one on ebay that says 232-12 8.1 I am also confused by the 8.1 Bottom Line Is this ok for my bike it says 6 wire

It will work fine- I'm been using same model for years. But never hurts to at least test the main diodes on any R/R new to you.

                    Will a R/R from a 2001 gixxer 750 work? is it li-ion compatible?

I updated my answer in your electrical thread post; but I don't know about li-ion question. Typically the R/R restricts voltage to 14 to 14.5 volts maximum.

The R/R for a 2011 Polaris Ranger is the same size and wiring, but is a SERIES regulator, like the Compufire, and is available BRAND-NEW for less than $68 (plus shipping, of course.

I checked and the part seems to be still available.

I just picked up this used part

Available thru lots of Polaris dealers, but likely not stocked- dealer would have to order. Prices I saw ranged from low of $55 ( but $20 fedex shipping) to "normal retail" of $78. Polaris part #4012941 with part labelled "regulator-3 phase,35A,Series,105C" noticeably heavier than typical Shindengen but mounting bolt spacing is same

Another possibility I just came across is a SEADOO regulator.

Stock they are a Series model.

After 96 they were all 3 phase series models. The 4 tec HD ones would run anything on a GS as long as they are the brand that seadoo used originally.
There are knock-off's to watch out for though.

Yes, beware of knockoffs and dealer promoted substitutes. I have no idea when the SH775 became available, but I doubt it's more than 3 years.
