I'm doing a backwards resto on this GS750. I wanted to make sure that I could make it run right before I started a frame up resto. 3 of the 4 pistons had at least 2 rings stuck to the pistons and I mean stuck beyond fixing. So I had to take the engine apart and I figured while I had it down I would do the work to make it look presentable. Once it's running properly I will do the deed to the rest.

Another shot of the head. It was a lot of work but it pays off in the end. Removing the lil blk goobers between the fins and replacing after paint is a must.

I used WD40 and scotchbrite on the side covers. After the factory finish was off I hand polished with Blue Magic Polish. And like our daddys taught us "It's Takes Elbow Grease Son"Last edited by Bobbys 94; 02-06-2024, 03:24 PM.1977 GS750

I think I've figured out the picture orientation out.
I will be replacing the hardware with SS allen head today.

Wondering if you may be using Phillips screw drivers? they kind'f work but an actual JIS screwdriver for those JIS screws work waaay better.. Either way, a bolt or allen screw set, in my opinion, is by far the best. Thanks for the updates, looking good.1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw. Yes, "I" own a set of JIS but the previous owner did not. But I've been working on these bikes for over 50 years and just purchased a set of JIS. Didn't need them in the past, all you had to do is use the proper size and use a Impact driver where needed. Never heard of JIS until the 2000's or so. If it doesn't go, Don't force it, I was always told.Last edited by Bobbys 94; 02-08-2024, 01:13 AM.1977 GS750
