Got another front fender coming that I'm going to see how it looks black so I'll get to do this all over when it arrives. sand3.jpg

Hopefully sprayed the last coat of primer over this today. I'll let it shrink and sand it with 400 and spray it if I don't break through. sand2.jpg

Just waiting to pick up another Challenger. This is the last one I built. Funny thing is though, prices are not coming down on them! I need a bigger shop too, so hopefully it all comes together, I have to move everything around just to work on a bike. cars 007.jpg

So cool. I found my '79 1000E to be one of the best motors and overall UJMs I had, albeit very briefly - I fixed/flipped for a couple grand profit. I have no idea what was going on with mine, which I got as a non-runner, but the thing surprised me with its torque and smoothness - even with pod/pipe it picked up well in the midrange and was a joy to ride.

I have raved about the KZ/GPz 750 motor, which I found turbine smooth and plenty powerful, but the bike is a tad small for me. The 79 GS1000 felt smooth like the KZ - much more than the slew of 1100E's I've owned, so in a way it was like a 'plus-sized' KZ750 - prob won't make much sense, but that's the feel I got out of that one example. It was perhaps a one-off, was freaky smooth and preferable to any liter/liter plus bike in the vibes dept. And handled, and braked, and the suspension was great. Miss it and eyes peeled for another.

I really like those GPZ750's I always wanted one and still have a brochure somewhere, that'll be my next bike I think anyway.
Well two weeks of sanding it seems and it looks pretty good. Waiting until tomorrow but I think I'm going to reshoot the tailpiece, I'll have a better look tomorrow. athou.jpg

Painting is a PITA. I swear the more I paint the worse I get at it. athou2.jpg

This one is next. I have another (intact) frame lined up for it. Tank is pretty rough but if I can't find another one I'll patch it up. I'll take a photo or two of the black one with my camera the next day or two. This one I'm going to keep the spoke wheels and do the modern brake conversion or hopefully a fork swap, and a header for sure. athou3.jpg

Amazes me how you get the bike to stick to the wall like that.
