clutch

so for today, I was going to do some work on the bike but, I thought I should clean... and drink some beer

here is my question, its hard to explain but I'll try

the clutch engages totally when the barrel adjuster is out and it can't be disengaged with the lever.

haven't started on the carbs yet. any suggestions?

got the chain on, may have to raise the "oil tank" if it slaps during bumpy sections

-carb rebuild
-brakes (bleed and pads)
-clutch (adjust or replace)
-wire lights (headlights, brake, tail), the wires are there I need to hook up the switch.

for today all I received was the pods (48mm) ordered 4 so the other bike will have em when the time comes. sorry no real tech, I'm in the middle of fixing my jeep this week since it is spewing oil all over the place

this is by far the best thread i have seen in a while. i almost had to sell my gs750 bobber project the other day "lack of money" just sqeezed by on that one i've been bouncing around the ideal of buying a sportster and bobbing it out the way the i want but after reading this whole thread i think i'm going to stick with the old gs. i might still buy a sporty but i'm only goig to do the gs as my bobber. if i can ever get some pic's up i'd like to see what everyone thinks about it. btw the use of what you have around the shop is great very out of the box. keep up the good work and keep us posted.
p.s. where did you come up with the green for the paint? i've got a open face old school helmet with about the same color in it and that's what color i was going to paint my bike. keep it going.

I spent some time in the marine corps, had to paint various things from time to time so I have a couple extra cans of green, tan, black. the green is the best for finding problems and it keeps the rust to a minimum while I build it.

Were can I get cromo from? Thats the steel right? man I can wait to start my gs1000 bobber

yeah, its like $5/foot here, west coast should be around $6+. you can also use DOM or HREW, they're cheaper, but your only buying a couple of feet so its no big deal. google metal supply with your area.

p.s. where did you come up with the green for the paint? i've got a open face old school helmet with about the same color in it and that's what color i was going to paint my bike. keep it going.

If I remember right, that's a Harley tank he bought separately. Probably came that color....but I'll defer to Rich for confirmation.

*edit* Nix that. I just noticed the same color on some other parts (another tank, forks).

AWESOME, It's amazing how similiar our builds are. You got some neat ideas there! Great creativity!
I haven't had time to really go through all the stuff on the site yet, lots and lots to check out.
Once I get through most of it I will post up some of the things I did on mine, sure wish I had found this site a year ago!!!

I would make a shock setup for the seat on the rigid, use mountain bike shocks.

thanks, I like the look of the springs and the fact that I already have them makes it a simple choice for me. I do like how some bikes look with them.

I've never run tubes in my bikes. I have Dunlops and no tubes on my GS's and they work perfect.
