Spent some time in the "man-cave" - From Wreck to Restoration

    Hello my friends!

    --------------------------------------
    Edit:
For those of you who missed it, my crash story is in this thread, post #162.

Complete pictorial documentation can be found on my Photobucket pages:
    The Accident
    Frame Straightening
    Reassembly

    --------------------------------------

I've started putting Jessie back together today. Actually, I had to take off some more parts to replace the busted, dented, and bent stuff. Now I'm ready to install new brake lines, new instrument cluster, new fender, new master cylinder, etc. Dave's handlebars look much better than my old bent ones.

One quick question. On the headlight ears, how do I remove the plastic inserts that hold the turn signal stalks? Twist apart the halves? Do they snap apart? (Thanks for the new ones, Dan!)

I'll need a few more days but I should have it ready in time for the rainy season, such as it is here in the So. Cal.

    Thank you for your indulgence,

    BassCliff

It looks like there's a "snap" ring to hold it in place. Sorry can't be much more help without handling it.

It looks to be made of the same plastic as a lot of the electrical connectors. If so, then both parts will probably be brittle and fall apart as soon as you start prying on them.

Perhaps see if the macro function on the camera will let you get a little closer to these pieces?

Sorry Ed. My computer/ISP glitched during the original post. It seems the pictures and the rest of the text didn't make it. I just edited the original post.

Eric, I'm all healed up. I'm still working out every day trying to get all the strength back in my left leg. It's a little stiff and sore sometimes but I walk without a limp, can go up and down stairs, etc.

Thanks again to all of you who donated parts. I still need to get a couple of body parts painted to match the new tank. I'll keep everyone informed as I reassemble Jessie.

I wish you all a safe and prosperous Happy New Year!

The bike looks good, all things considered. Hope you do too!

Just push those plastic inserts out.

Hi Cliff, can see the photos now.

Those white plastic plugs just push though - push from the square side.

                          ...all about the leg...

How's the finger? Playing the minor 3rd again?

Hope you all back together again.

Any chance of you making it to the Rally at Bruce's in July?

                              Hi,

Jessie will be going back together slowly but surely. I want to replace the intake boots and O-rings while it's apart, new brake lines, maybe wheel bearings, etc.

My finger has healed up pretty good. Thanks for asking Larry. I've been playing gigs on my bass and strumming my guitar. It's all coming back.

I doubt I'll be able to make Bruce's party this year, not because of the bike but because of other time commitments. Perhaps I should start planning for next year.

I'll keep you all informed of my progress.

                              Thank you for your indulgence,
