In the automotive service here back in the day of early emission controls, the fuel vapors from the carb vent hoses went to a charcoal canister where they were filtered before going to the atmosphere.Maybe a small charcoal filter along those lines would suffice. Search out "Purge Control Canister" in the auto parts stores. (Not to be confused with a PCV, that stands for "Positive Crankcase Ventilation") My 81 GL1100 had something similar in the form of a catch can on it that the air box drained into, commonly called a puke tank. That is all it was... a catch can.

The paint turned out fantastic, looks like a million bucks from here!

Thanks mate! If you get close you can see some issues but from a metre or two away it looks great, very happy with that resultOriginally posted by Hoosier Daddy View PostThe paint turned out fantastic, looks like a million bucks from here!

A catch can is literally all I need and is what I'm planning on, I've just got to find something suitable to use. Not too stressed about it as I don't think that will be terribly difficult to sort out.
Thanks Daniel! Dunno about the nicest but hopefully right up thereOriginally posted by 7981GS View PostThat is going to be the nicest 450 on the Planet!
Great job Pete!

Go to Team Moto and I'm sure they'll be happy to order one for youOriginally posted by Woodsy View Posti want your headlight.
Nothin', there's one there already... starts just in front of the collector and extends to the rear shock...Originally posted by Woodsy View PostWhat are you doing in regards to a exhaust heat shield?
Thanks mate! And yeah you bet, feels really good to do some bolts up nice and tight for a change instead of finger tight because I know they're comin' off againOriginally posted by Etcheberri View Postnice, i bet it s really good to see it starting to get back together!

If the seat design flows with the grab-rail/tail and tank, it will be glorious!
What are you making the heat shied out of? Might I suggest a piece of shielding from a catalytic converter?

Pete, you sheep shagging, Auzzie SOB, I told you it looks good in the garage, but outside in the natural light it is first class, well done mate, take a bow, that bike looks gorgeous.
And to think you kept us waiting this long for these pics....yeah yeah yeah, I know, the weather and the sun and all that jazz, bloody auzzie weather, no wonder my daughter wants up and out of the place and wants to come home after only a year there.
You are on the road to one beautiful ride there mate.

Cheers Scott! Should be only a few weeks away, I set myself a deadline of the end of November to be ready for rego., so I should be riding early to mid December I would thinkOriginally posted by cowboyup3371 View PostLooks even better than in the garage Pete. Good on you.

It should flow well, at least I hope it will. A small step from rider to pillion but nothing pronounced like a king/queen seat or anything like that. I'll get some pic's up of the foam shape mounted on the bike next time I'm in there.Originally posted by 7981GS View PostIf the seat design flows with the grab-rail/tail and tank, it will be glorious!

And the heat shield is done
It blends in well, but have a close look just in front of the collector through to about the rear shock...

I didn't realise your daughter was over here, but if she's in Brissie then with the way the weather's gone the last few years I can't blame her! The Sunshine State... ha! Actually we do get plenty, I'm just complainin' coz I can
