I met a guy up your way yesterday who races Katanas at the drags, he is doing some work on a friends cranks.
He showed me 3 1570cc Katanas that run in the low 9's and one that does high 8's. Loudest bike i have heard in a while!
He is a bit of a mad scientist by the looks of it, if you need any engine work done down the track he would be a good guy to get in contact with i reckon.Comment

I dont know if he is a member, i didnt get much of a chance to get a word in to tell him.
He certainly doesnt need any help with the mechanicals or anything, some of the crazy mods on his bikes are out there(maybe common in the drag world?).Comment

Just updated my ignitor thread with the state of play from today... basically no better than last time as it turns out the timing is about 180 degrees out.
Fingers crossed I may get a chance to kick it again tomorrow after John's modifications, otherwise maybe Wednesday on the public holiday perhaps, not sure yet...
As to video, well... I did take a couple and they're both pretty crappy. The microphone on the digital camera is quite useless, so even if the bike was to idle properly without backfiring continually it still would've sounded like crap. The next door neighbour's whipper snipper also features heavily in the sound track, so I don't think I'll bother posting either of them at the moment.
Wait til it's running smoothly and going by the very brief glimpse of getting on song once today, I think it will sound goooood....Comment

Sorry no dice today...
Nup, sorry to disappoint... that pesky thing called life got in the way today...
Got the house clean real early so should've had some time, but alas I then needed to duck out and do other things, so there went the time...
Unfortunately, the public holiday this Wednesday is already spoken for, as is this coming Saturday and the Saturday after (sorta like your Sundays for me Flyboy), so if I wait for a Saturday it'll be 3 weeks away! I can't wait that long...
Time to wangle me a day off if I can do it. My senior engineer at work is about to duck off for 3 weeks leave but I can't remember if it's next week or the week after and I gotta be around while he's off... fingers crossed!
