Nice job, the rack looks great with the bit of added color.

When I get the buffer I'm going to polish the floats bowl to really finish the job.A little detail that will go mostly unnoticed.

They look great! I like that little touch of colour too actually.

I've kept that soda blasting thing in the back of my mind and I'm still wondering whether I should try it or not.

The house mate apparently has a decent sized compressor at his mum's place which I was going to use for spray painting the tank and mudguards, so perhaps I should give the soda blasting a go because they certainly seem to come up real nice.

I'm thinking carb bodies black with polished top and float covers for mine... but I may get lazy yet.

Been looking for a starter bike for my wife for a while now.Seen this ad http://www.usedvictoria.com/classifi...400s-_13789770 Looked at them today.Think the 85/6(built10/85) has enough to be a good bike Kelly.Picking them up tomorrow and you can bet the pic whore you know and love(I hope) will have some. Will start a new thread on this resurrection as well.
                Edit;picking them up for $250

Dang it all. Good find. I saw them this morning but am on the couch post surgery. I'm trying to find a decent 400 for my daily work rider for the cheaper insurance. Is the 79 in pretty rough shape?

Funny I was thinking of you looking at these. The 79 is looking............... incomplete. It's an L but the tank with it is an E.There is another engine but I didn't get a look at it.Might be the original 2 valve lump. Will take pics so you can judge if you want to take it on.Might be to far gone though.

So I finally got all the bolts off and split the cases on the engine in post #72(can't find the pics in PB)

Looks way better than I expected it to.Here's the clutch

Plates look funky but I think they would clean up OK(shrugs)

So this was the engine with the water sitting in it? That's not so bad inside at all!

I think I'd be replacing those clutch plates though

Its a spare, not doing any replacing.I'm frugal ,I'd clean them up ad use them

Well, at least in that state I don't think you'd have slipping issues...
