Oh well, it is my little one, what can I do, if it was seventeen grand, I would make a plan to find it.

Hang in there on this one Stan. I too am wondering what's coming with Cheyenne now as we found out from her sleep study test Friday that she has obstructive sleep apnea and might need to be hooked up to a CPAP machine at night. Of course we'll want the ENT doctor to look at her as well first.

Like you've told me, keep your chin up and know it will get better.

Sorry Paul, yeah, have not been around much the past two weeks, and must admit I have not touched a spanner or even had chance to put my nose into the garage.
Truth is, I have been working myself ragged the last few weeks, it is 1am in the morning and I have just walked into the house after having left at 6am yesterday morning, and I will be outta here in four hours time again for another 18 hour stint, and so it has been for two weeks.
So appologies for the lack of updates, but there is nothing to update, the ball of spaghetti is soaking in the Cleen green, where I left it two weeks ago, the Gixxer wheels I bought are still in the boot (trunk, for y'all on the wrong side of the Atlantic ) of my car, havn't even taken them out after picking them up.
I think I should leave them there, I get to look at hem every time I open the boot to get my flight bag....will make them hard to flip though, damn, they are nice, musn't look too much.

Had a bunch of plans lined up for the new year, and they fell flat on their ass, so busy working lat out on a new bunch, in the mean time too much to pay for, the little terror has to go in to have his adanoids and tonsils remover next week, and despite me giving the thieves at medical aid over a grand a month, oh no sorry, you will have to pay in seventeen hundred bucks.....are you kidding me??? Bunch of thieving SOB's.

End of July I got a trip over to your side of the pond to Oshkosh that needs to be funded, and a few GSR folk counting on me to show up and share lies over cold beer and a camp fire until the wee hours of the morning, I could never let my friends down, so come hell or high water, I will be there.
Gotta go shopping for my 1150EF after all...

Went to see the product manager at Pferd, the abrasives guys, and he organised me two awesome new polishing wheels to test run, thier latest fibre compound, except now I have to buy a bench polisher to mount them, like it or not. Apparently these fibre wheels will cut poor Sci's 15 hours of manual labour down to around an hour.
Anyway too tired to rant anymore, rant off.

I will try and get into the garage this weekend, and make some headway on Jennifer, so I have something to post up after the weekend, I promise, and thanks for noticing I have been missing, pretty cool.

    Off to bed.....................................

Don't feel alone Flyboy, I think I am going your route here soon. I need to get the old wiring harness cleaned up and I think a good soaking is the best thing for the wires and the plugs. Then I might invest in a few new connectors and just redo most of the connectors, depending on budget. Simple green and water, let me know how well the goo comes off after the soak and if the connectors soaked clean.

More than anything I am dreading the rewiring of the bike.
I can paint, weld etc.. but wiring is a black art to me.

Sir, you've got balls to attack THAT harness all at once!
Mine was in a better condition and I still did it only a portion at a time...

dfocht, nothing more advanced than plain water with Kleen Green/Simple Green, whatever the trade name is where you are, amazing stuff that.
Will let it lie in there for a week, all the gum from the old tape should be nice and soft by then, then it is just a matter if wiping them down with a cloth.
Only reason I say a week, is because that is the first chance I will get to it again, overnight should be more than enough.

GK, I know what you mean, the gum and glue on these wires is amazing and quite nasty, I personally am going to shrink sleeve it as far as possible, but it is difficult to shrink sleeve the whole thing, especially where wires branch out and away from the main harness, what I would suggest is getting enough shrink sleeving of various sizes to cover the whole harness, and slitting it down the middle with a Stanley knife, that way you can get it on everywhere, then secure in place with small tie straps/zip ties, maybe use some tape at the ends where wires branch out, getting away without using any tape is unavoidable, but you can keep it to a minimum.
Don't heat or shrink the sleeving, just use it as a sleeve/cover.

But then again, you get tape, and you get tape, the cheap stuff is nasty but the more spendy, brand name stuff tends to work well, with minimal coming loose and un gluing, try and go for 3M brand or so, drop one of the electrical gurus on here, who are in the game, like Jim or someone a PM and find out from them what they recommend.

Quick question.....what are you going to use to wrap it all back up with....?

I find ordinary electrical tape gets hard in the cold, and very pliable in the heat, and tends to unglue itself, so is there something better, I was thinking something in a cloth type tape, but was afraid it would hold moisture.

I don't need to unwrap my harness, it's in good shape, just wanted to wrap over the existing....

    Any thoughts ?

What concoction are you soaking the wires in?

    Thanks!

Flyboy, my BS o'meter just went off scale... you owe me a new needle for it! you would have owed me two of them when you said you needed to 'bin' the project and start over, but fortunately for you, that time it wasn't on...

Andre, your eyes are too sharp, that's exactly what it is.

Pete, I guess now is not a good time to admit, me and wires have never seen eye to eye, it's voodoo hoodoo and all manner of things foul as far as I am concerned.
If I get to changing a plug on the toaster without the house burning down, I am doing well.
Lord only knows how I am going to get through that mess, and have everything working at the end, but have wiring diagram, and patience, will triumph.
