Looks like a whole lotta fun. And no need for a cafe fairing, I really like the naked street fighter look. Its an excellent mating of vintage and modern, I love it.

Kinda makes me want to get my own small little bike to play around with...

What about a fly screen rather than a bikini/cafe screen?

I can't find it right now but I've seen one that's designed for twin lights along the lines of what you have and would be just big enough to cover the instruments and deflect a little wind off your chest.

        Hmm

I could go for that. I just found an article on how to make a flyscreen out of a 5-gallon bucket!

I like to see that, if possible?

That looks like a trials bike, or my downhill mountain bike...

I bet you can mob around pretty good on that once it's done!

Me too!! Question though... will a bucket's plastic be strong enough or will it flap around in the breeze? I would think a large plastic plant pot may be a little stiffer...

I think it would plenty strong, made from the paint buckets I use. I going to see if I can find a black bucket and give it a try. If I get it on the bike at least I'll know for almost no $, how they function.

Got a bit distracted at the BOTTOM of the page. RIP Gavin!

Errr... yeah... "Gavin" is a little distracting...

Anyways, I'm used to the standard cheapo buckets from Woolies and Coles, so I'm guessing a 5 gallon bucket in the US is a different beast altogether, because that doesn't look weak and flexible at all, looks pretty darn good in fact!

Might see some more of those around this forum too me thinks

Nice find Scott, should really suit yours too i would think...

                      Rethinking

Rethinking the rear end a bit. The seat was a bit too short, and I just can't get over how wide the cowl is. I have a spare just in case, so i took to cutting three inches out of the mounts and plastic. It looks pretty good so far, but I am going to stare at it for awhile before I finish weld things. Looks like I am in for a bit of glass work on the seat pan too.....

The stareing thing works for me. I have been staring for three years now and nothing has changed yet. I've got an extra cowl, for postage if you need it.

I do the staring... then I head to the GIMP... then I realise how bad I am at putting what I'm thinking into a picture... then I start staring again... then I try the GIMP again... I think you get the idea

Seriously though, I get ya' on the wide stock duck tail, it is very wide. I think the lip at the bottom makes it look worse though. I'm still stuck on what I'm doing with mine at the moment, and I'm about to head back into the GIMP...

The duck tail would be really cool just a little bit narrower. Make the lines flow better I think. I don't mind the lip so much as I do the width. Also how it integrates with the seat will be crucial. Any thoughts of this?

EDIT: The rest of build looks awesome by the way.

                              Some narrowed pics

Here is the narrowed rear cowl. Everything is just taped in place or tack welded. I kind of like it so far. I think finding the right tail light is going to be key. Anyone a whiz with LED's??

I'm uncertian if I precieve how you have narrowed the cowl because of the dark background. It seems as if you've lowered the rear of the cowl to align with one of the horizontal cords of the frame. I like that better. It does seem to be a lighter element now. I can see how you think the right taillight would important.. Right now you have a clean line going under the seat and to place the wrong light at the end could spoil the effect. Thanks for sharing.
