OK guys, what's my bike worth...

A guy at work wants to buy my '81 1100EX (aka, Big Red).

I've invested a lot of time into her, as I bought her as a non-runner in fairly rough shape... almost 40K on the clock.

She's sporting a Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, K&N pods & a 4-1 pipe, I've honed the cylinders, new valve stem oil seals & lapped the valves. She starts almost the instant you touch the starter button - runs very well, pulls like a train (thanks to Chef's carb setting advice).

Here's list of the major work I've done on her:
Cleaned & rebuilt carbs, new o-rings
Installed 4 K&N pod filters & autozone (k&n knockoff) valve cover breather filter
Rebuilt cam chain tensioner with new OEM seal, o-ring & spring
    New stator cover gasket
New front fork seals & rebuilt fork dampeners
Replaced seals in tach drive assy in valve cover
Installed new aftermarket (Z1) half-moons cam plugs
New steerring stem bearings & races, top & bottom (All-balls set)
Coated fuel tank with POR-15, new OEM petcock
New Shinko 230 Tour Master tires front & rear
Honed clyinders, installed new rings (stock size)
Lapped valves, replaced valve stem oil seals
New OEM base gasket & head gasket
Rebuilt both front & rear brake calipers
Rebuilt both front & rear master cylinders
New SS brake lines both front & rear
Dyna coils (3.0 ohmn) & dyna wires
    New motion-pro clutch cable
New left & right handlebar levers (black)
    Installed superbike handlebars
Replaced all engine covers/carb screws with SS allen heads
    What's a good asking price??

I'd start at $2500. I hope you can get 2k.
    Fresh motor is a plus.
    Why are you selling?

I have 3 bikes in a very small space at the moment so one has to go...

I was originally going to part with the 850GLZ, but I rode her again last week & fell in love with that smooth, shaft power again, so I changed my mind.

I really like the 1100EX, but utimately she's not the dream machine I want forever - I would prefer a newer ('83) model...

Soooo, I've decided to part ways with my new friend. Guys coming tomorrow night to look, I haven't told him a price yet - I think $2500 is a bit optimistic as she's not THAT pretty, but I'd settle for $1800...

          Thanks for the input.

$2500 is a high ball price to work your way to what I hoped would be around 2k. $1800 is good with a fresh top end.
Why does it look like a cross breed with an 83?

I assume the black is hinting at the '83 model?

I painted the jugs black while I had them off... also painted the fronk fork lowers black too when I had them apart.

Bought the headlight bucket from a member here (didn't have one when I got her) and that was blue, so that was painted black also. Added a set of black superbike bars (bought from Salty Monk).

The OE exhaust was MIA when I got her & the 4-1 header was REALLY rusted - had it sand blasted & I painted it with PJ1 fast black.

And there you have it - an '81 with a lot of black!

Actually it's 1/2 dark purple anodize (alum can)... I picked up a pair of them on CL late last year & replaced the cheap muffler that was on the bike. I know it shouls be raised a bit more, but that's an easy mod for the new owner. Sounds decent, not too loud or tinny. Has a nice roar at WOT.

Got a closeup? it looks like a Ysohi can and I have never seen one annodized like that. Is it yoshi?

                      yes, it's a Yoshi.

I believe it's from a duel exhaust system (I have the mating one as well) but I don't know what bike they came from. Some kid was selling them on CL and I needed a nicer one than the one I had. It seems to work well...

Well that is interesting, that Yoshi emblem is typically off of the older style that don't have the nozzle, I was lucky enough to win one ($30 i think ) off ebay and put it onto an NOS can from a later model.

The problem with the anodization is you can't polish it .

A few minutes on the buffer and then some silicone based polish and it keeps pretty nice.
