GS 550L Gets a make over

Sorry for the lacking of pictures but uploading was not in the cards this weekend. Hopefully tonight.

Well this weekend saw the brakes and homemade SS brake lines go on. Installed the R/R and finished up all the electrical connections.

So of course at the end of the day on Sunday we hooked everything up to the battery turned the switch and NOTHING....arghhhhhh. My pain now begins. I have one item on the circuit I did not re-install because well I really don't understand the purpose of it. I will post this question in the Electrical Section also, but it is called the Output Terminal. A line that runs from the starter seloniod to a 10 amp fuse then to ground. I don't understand its purpose.

Anyway trouble shooting electricals begins this afternoon. I had to get home yesterday so I had to call it good for the day.

Okay electrical is now working had to figure out the selinoid to fuse box and wiring harness. Then everthing started coming to life. So far everything seems to work. Except all I can get on my gear selector is 4,5,and 6. Neutral light and 1,2,3 are not working. Will look into that again tomorrow. Good news is the SS brakelines from AN plumbing are holding up well but now i have a leak on my front master cylinder where the brake handle pushes the plunger. Any way here are some pics of the lithium ion battery and the front brakes.

Tomorrow we are going to finish troubleshooting the electrical, put the epoxy kit in the tank and hopefully be ready to try and start it on Thursday. The kit says it only needs a 24hr cure time but I am going to give it 48hr to be safe.

Great looking work Paul and that's a pretty small battery. I'm so close here to getting my electrical installed but mother nature had other plans and will until at least Wednesday. Then, I have to decide what's more important - packing up the tools or working on the bike.

Tentative schedule is to attempt to get it started on Thursday. I am going to coat the tank tonight and try and trouble shoot the issue with the gear selector.

WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO..... all the electrical is a go. The starter works the horn is mounted and all the lights work. I have one bad blinker but that is a take back and get new one which can be done after the bike is running. The starter works, the start button works things are good to go.

We put oil in it last night and turned the starter over and you can here the compression in the engine screaming for fuel and spark.....

Got home last night to do the preps on the gas tank and realized I had left the instructions for the tank sealer at Adam's house. Grrrrrrr my youngtimers kicked in again. So I am delayed one day for starting the bike. Thats okay I know she will get started by this weekend.
I could actually take her for a spin on Saturday and the bonus is that the weather man is being nice and calling for upper 60s (F) and sunny. Woot.

I sat down and watched the video I made of a ride last year just to get a little bit of that feeling! Spring is the hardest part of a bike build.

+2. I have already decided I won't finish my plans to clean up the bike (powdercoat frame, really clean engine, some other smaller things) until I buy another. If that means the bike has to run great for a few more years so be it.
