Got the bike insured, inspected and registration! Can finally after 8 years take small rides on it. But some of the little shortcuts I took to get it on the road are starting to show lol. After 3 days of riding it, I blew the fork seals. so i guess i'll be ordering them. Still need to get my carbs synced and tuned properly. Going to be a slow process til it is completely road ready and i am confident to take it on longer trips. As money is really tight at the moment.

Mate I just read this thread for the first time, and all I can say is I'm stoked for you... 8 years and back on the road

I'm hoping to have that feeling later this year... it was 9 years this year since I last rode it...

Hopefully you can knock those little things one at a time and get on it again

I must say i cannot understand guys like you and Pete.How you can have a bike around that long and not do something about it.I've gone times when I haven't had a bike.I never let one just sit for years though.How do you look at it and not want to get it going?Not really trying to criticize just don't know how you guys do it,I'd sell it before I did that.

Trust me Greg, there have been many times over the years I've avoided walking into the garage so I didn't have to look at it and get grumpy because it wasn't rideable. The first 3 years I used to start it up every now and then to make sure it was still ok for when I was able to put some time and money aside to get it going again, and I even renewed the registration every year. Then I woke up that it had been neglected for too long when the left muffler fell off and I started pulling it down and let the registration lapse.

I have a sentimental attachment to this bike (probably irrational but you get that) and it was all I had when I was out of money and going through some crap, and it got me around and kept me sane. I had to get it going again

Thanks pete, Hope you get yours rideable this year too. Yes mine still needs alot of work and I still don't trust it on long rides yet, but I hope I can at least enjoy it on small trips around town to the store and such.
