Whoo hooo! I've been quietly waiting for you to realize thisOriginally posted by Flaming Chainsaws View PostIn case you guys missed what I said, I will be ditching the side covers and relocating the electronics. The side covers just looked terrible with the seat. They did not line up at all! So with that said, the side covers are for sale.
Tim Tom, I know that you love a cafe bike where you can see right through the frame
It would also make the bike look lighter and cooler
.
I cant wait to see what you do with it!

I love this bike.
I want to go all the way back to your first build. how long did it take you to polish the aluminum on the bike? Did you do it by hand or use a wheel?

Hehe... I was reading the post for the GN250 and saw what you said. I guess that finally made me realize itOriginally posted by Tim Tom View PostWhoo hooo! I've been quietly waiting for you to realize this

This is my first build but not my first thread. I polished everything by hand. The left fork leg took about 2 hours and same for the right fork leg. The engine took about 6 hours total and it only looks decent... Not super shiny. I want a bench grinder... My fingers will love me for that.Originally posted by Krunk_Kracker View PostI love this bike.

I used Mother's Mag & Alu polish with clean cloths and elbow grease
.
Thanks for the compliment!

I'm flattered...
Really actually I'm flattered and glad to be of help. I wish I had the time to do a build like this, but with college and a full time job it's gonna have to wait until I graduate...
I have so many ideas I want to try too. Seriously considering building a super-light cafe from a 2 stroke motocross bike....
But until I have the time and resources I get to live vicariously through builds like yours and ColoradoCJ's.
Keep up the great work, I wanna see a finished(ish) bike soon!

Someone once told me. You either have a lot of time and no money (like me) or no time and a lot of money.Originally posted by Tim Tom View PostReally actually I'm flattered and glad to be of help. The bike is almost done!
Nope, aluminum is softer than chrome.Originally posted by Twlzt3d View PostYour kidding rite? lol wouldnt balled up aluminum leave scratches and such?
Waste of Coca-Cola! LOL!Originally posted by FreshStart View Postnope its to soft you can also use cocacola instead of soapy water
Wait, the aluminum foil only cleans rust, not polish. If you want to polish, get Mother's Mag & Alu polish and start rubbing with a cloth!Originally posted by Twlzt3d View Postwow, imma have to take sum closeups of my bike and sum areas of interest i would like to try polishing first before buying replacement parts it just seems to me the parts are too far gone cosmetically from the previous owner. I sprayed the pink on yesterday. So I wet sanded today with 500 grit sand paper. Even smoother than before. Ready for paint!

I wet sanded the clear coat again on the seat as there were still some bumps.

Another sticker added to the fender. That's my spare igniter for mocking up on the other side.

OK. I was just trying to be clear. I didn't want you to scratch up some parts! So only use the foil on chrome, nothing else.Originally posted by Twlzt3d View Postby polishing i was just speakin out of tongue so to speak, sorry, lol. I mean cleaning up rusty areas of said bike. I think wood bleach was also called oxalic acid. You can find them for like $5 at Lowe's.Originally posted by terrylee View PostTry evapo-rust or wood bleach both work great on rust. Wood bleach is much cheaper. terrylee
Here's an old Photoshop I did just for fun. I think it would look even cooler if I add some kind of logo or something in the bottom left corner...

In this picture, I made everything black and white but left the rim stripe red, blurred the background, and put lots of contrast. Not too bad for a 5 min Photoshop job.Last edited by Guest; 05-11-2011, 10:47 PM.
