There is another member in sydney with two 650 Katanas in parts, but complete. It would be a good cheap project for you if you are looking for a bit more power.
I have his email if you are interested.

 twitchy corners...

Im no expert, but If the bike is twitchy in corners maybe the needlebearing in the swingarm is bad, or maybe the stearing rooller bearings?Originally posted by Woodsy View PostThe main let down of my bike is the tyre size and the lack of power, Tyre size would make it so much more rideable, its very twitchy cornering.
I have got a honda 125 cbr and the tires are very small, but it behaves reliable anyway?

Its very wobbly through corners, the forks have been re done so i'm rulling them out at the moment, my bearings in the steering tree have no free travel at all and now that you mention it Niklas the rear of the bike has felt quite odd lately, at one stage i had to check that the back wheel wasnt wobbling, will check the swingarm before my next ride.

Then again it could just be me, if the bike isnt running right my confidence on it drops so maybe i'm wobbling through corners.... lol

Let me know how that turns out. If the needlebearing in the swingarm is bad, that would explain it then. I had a similar problem on my GS.

Forgot to mention, last time i took the bike out i got stuck in a storm, worst rain i have ever ridden in and i learnt that when a jackests selling point is its 'WATERPROOF' it doesnt actually mean its WATERPROOF! Not happy with that at all.

But i just made it into our driveway and the bike died, it ran outta fuel lol, bloody dodgy fuel gauge!, i normally get 300km to a tank but only got 261 this time round, might be because of the carby problems i think!

Nothing new with the bike apart from swapping to its original bars due to the pressure on my wrists caused by my cafe style bars and i have to say i much prefer the original bars, the cafe style bars look better on the bike but i could ride all day with the original bars!

For once i havent had any problems with the bike for a while, did have an odd thing the other day though, parked my bike at a shopping centre, went in and when i came back to the bike to go home i fired it up it made a loud HISS and a puff of smoke came out infront of the fuel tank, didnt smell like fuel or electrical so i tried to fire it up again and it fired straight up.

Got some parts ordered for the intake side of things then i can finally take it on long rides again!

Sad day today, the bike was sold, but not before taking it for one last ride. I should of mentioned that i modified the baffle in the muffler which made the bike get abit more mid range pull and made the exhaust sound ALOT better, instead of the normal twin sound it sounded like something alot bigger in cc's without being noisy.

The girlfriend offered to take some pics of me and the bike as she knows how much work i have put into it and how much i enjoyed riding it.

It has gone to a good home hopefully, and means i can now step up to a bigger bike.

This pic really makes me look like a giant on this bike lol

Yup, sad day... but also hopefully a good one as it's the next step to the bike you really want

At least you got to learn a bunch of stuff which will make it all a bit easier next time around.

As for looking like a giant... well looks like you're similar height to me and my first bike was a Honda CA250 Rebel... now I just looked plain stupid on that little beast! haha

Well i would love my uncles Katana... but i dont think thats gonna happen lol

Just keeping my eyes open at the moment, am looking for something around 600 - 750cc would like to stay with Suzuki, but will consider other makes may as well as there are heaps of good bikes out there.

I've considered a 650 katana but after looking at afew i'm not overly happy with them.
