Actually I'm thinking of having it welded. At one time or another the chain must have broken because there is a broken off mounting boss that's used to mount the sprocket cover. The broken piece was still attached to the covers screw so rather the JB welding it closed, I think I'll go the proper route and have someone TIG it up. Well unless I can find someone who will let me borrow theirs for a wee bit.

Apparently I'm blind as a bat. Can someone point out the crack to me? I see a screw mark where the oblong nut goes, but is that a crack?Ed

Bolt poked the hole thru the inside where its more visible...it will leak all the way around the dimple the bolt made. The bolts are side specific due to length...dont mix them up like whoever did this has done.Last edited by chuck hahn; 07-07-2014, 08:46 PM.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Drill, center punch, sharp punch, countersink, robertson and straight drive tips and about a hours worth of work.

The case paint is glossy so the Eastwood engine paint might even be a closer match than I had originally suspected.

Upper engine case is all sanded ready to be put in the laundry tub for the third time. Last edited by rustybronco; 07-26-2014, 05:36 PM. Last edited by rustybronco; 07-26-2014, 05:36 PM.
