But I may attempt something at making a seat and see how it turns out.

That looks awesome and I would bring you my tank when it's finished (unless I paint it at your shop) so you could do that to my tank but we live in the same city and I don't want people to say "hey! that's just like Erik's tank!"

                        true, whatever.

                        bakirkwold:

For gold leafing you brush on a glue kind of stuff called sizing. Then you let it dry to just the right point. Barely any tack. If you put the leaf on when the size is too wet it will bubble and the size never seems to dry after the leaf is applied. If you wait too long the leaf doesn't stick.

Once the sizing is just right you apply the leaf very carefully and you press it down by putting a piece of paper over and rub it down so you dont scratch the leaf. Then take a make up brush and brush it off. Where ever the sizing is thats where the leaf will stay.

Then do you have to protect it somehow? Clear coat?

yeah, clear coat. as you can see, the tank is dull again. I've sanded it down and will be clearing again.

Speaking of clear coat Erki, do you have any experience with Endura paints? I used to paint with Endura almost exclusively when I worked for a fibre-glas shop painting boats.
It was supposed to be the closest thing to powder coat at the time.

yeah is still pretty tuff stuff I think. Don't really use it much at the shop but my boss did spray a sprint car with it because thats what the owner supplied for the job and had the color all picked out. Can't really say much about it as I didn't spray it.
