Got the new front tire on....took the exhaust off on the left side so I could take it to get to get a crossover pipe made....installed a new speedometer cable....figured out why the brake light off the front lever didn't work...and ordered a new switch.....all in all a productive night...

yea i think we can make something that will work...i cant even find regular exhaust pipe in that size.....i had to get metal pipe from the hardware store...and it isnt even quite right....so we have to weld something together using the ends of my old pipe and the middle section of new pipe....

So we took these two pipes.....cut the old looking one in half.....and stuck the halves in either end of the new pipe.....and welded it tight.....works pretty good...

so i got the exhaust back on last night...and after starting it i noticed that at idle the right side pipe seemed to be putting out more air than the left side pipe....but when revved up..it seemed to equal out.....any thoughts????

also this is kind of an odd question but this is the first kick start bike ive owned.....when using the kick starter do you have to pull the clutch lever in or not.....with the clutch lever in it kicks almost to freely...and with it out it you can feel the motor turning.....

Sounds like your carbs aren't balanced or tuned. A good carb balancing should sort that right out for you

As for the kicker... never had one before but I imagine the only reason you'd need the clutch in is if you left it in gear...

thats what i was thinking on the kickstarter issue but wasnt sure.....and havent used that to start it yet as it starts kinda hard......and i will look into the carb issue....i was hoping it was something like that and not a compression issue or something.....thanks..

It could still be compression of course... hopefully not though

A compression test and carb balance will tell you for sure

Got a good bit of work done today....installed another turn signal switch...replaced the broken turn signal....removed and drained the gas tank...painted the gas cap cover....removed the stripped screw holding the left side cover on........and before I started that work i went for a ride to the end of the block...not very far but rewarding.........
