Thanks BB. I actually got some of the rust off, but it had damaged the chrome. Spots of dull metal. I think the PC will look good as well. I was able to clean the shock bodies up, but the springs needed professional help.

I have the best PC guy. Dropped the springs off yesterday afternoon. Got a call from him today and he even delivered them to me since he was in my neck of the woods. Plus they look awesome! $25 Dang it. That's incredible.

Sorry GK. No leg this time.

as I was scrolling down and looking at the pictures, and you go and spoil it for me at the end....hehehehehe
looking really good, I always thought PC would crack, especially on a spring once it got compressed, shows how much I know....
man, I wish there was a cheap PC guy in my neck of the woods......I would have had everything done by them......

I just couldn't resist, hope your missus don't hate me, it's in good fun....

LOL!!!
Well fellas, I spent a little while trying to get the shocks back together. Hmmmm... that's going to take some more thinking. The ratchet strap method is not working for reassemble.
I may try to see if one of my buddies has a set of spring compressors.

Yes, this was what I did and it worked. After sleeping on it I am going to give this another shot today. Going to "spring" for some smaller straps though. I think that was my deal. Plus I had the hooks on them. Those will have to be removed.Originally posted by SVSooke View Post
The same way I got the springs off my 78 1000 shocks.
Thanks for posting that SV. I couldn't remember who put that picture up or how it was set up. They will be back together this afternoon.

Thanks GK. I am heading into a bit of a cash flow lull. I will be working on "lesser" issues and getting creative with what I have. That means polishing some parts and getting smaller things cleaned up and ready to go back on the bike.
The next big item is the wiring harness. I need to take inventory of how many/what type of connectors I have. I plan on replacing them all, cleaning the wires up and re-wrapping the whole harness. We will see what awaits.....
